Stamp Duty

This is a tax charged by the government and has to be paid by the buyer. It is based on the price of the property purchased as follows:- £120,000 and less - no duty charged; £120,001-£250,000 - 1% of the price; £250,001- £500,000 - 3% of the price; £500,001 and over - 4% of the price.
